Supporting Local Youth
The KC Running Club is affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). The RRCA launched Kids Run the Nation, a gender inclusive running program which KCR is currently using in some area schools. KCR provides the schools with curriculum, student books, and incentives that allow them to educate and encourage youth to run and implement a program. The curriculum covers all fundamentals of running and meets the Physical Activity Guidelines set forth by the USDA. This program is not just for schools. KCR can assist clubs and other groups interested in making running a part of their program. Support can be provided for new or already established youth programs.
In KCR efforts to support youth running programs, include an ongoing collection drive is taking place for new and gently used singlets, short/long sleeve shirts, shorts, pants, jackets, hats, gloves, water bottles, shoes, and socks. Bins are set up outside the basement door of the KCR Clubhouse at 208 West 79th Street, KC MO, 64114. You can also contact a board member or firstname.lastname@example.org to make a donation. By donating you are helping many kids who cannot afford shoes and gear to have an enjoyable experience, and providing motivation toward establishment of a healthy lifestyle and life-long sport. KCR also provides discounted or free entries for youth programs to participate in KCRC owned races.
KCR maintains an ongoing list of local youth running groups and welcome youth at any of our group runs, track workout sessions, and many of the various other programs offered at the KC Running Club. If you have local youth that would be interested in running but don’t have the resources needed, or you would just like some more information about youth running, please contact email@example.com.
