running freeThe KC Track Club was able to assist in providing 50 pairs of running shoes from Soles for Souls for the inaugural Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF) Running Free 5K. It took place on July 26, 2014. and raised more than $425 for the Kids In Need Foundation.

The Running Free Program meets weekly at LCF and allows men that are incarcerated in the medium security unit to receive positive direction by setting goals and training to meet those goals. The program was started by Carol Hill and Norma Weiser at the Correctional Facility in Topeka KS and brought to LCF in November of 2013 when Paul Bequette, a local runner, began facilitating the program.

They have extended a special thank you to the KC Track Club members and volunteers, Paul Bequette , Nick Gonzales, Janet Porter,   Raul Flores,  Race Day Timing Solutions, , Cheryl Lentz, Jane Deskis, Steve Sodergren , Kat Smith, Chris Lentz, Bill Shipman, Renda Craft, Byron Alexander, Tim Banks, and John Hutchison.
